The Youth Empowered for Success (Y.E.S.) program assists high school youth in successfully completing high school and preparing them for college or entering the workforce. Emphasis is placed on leadership, academics, goal-setting, career planning, and social growth. More information below.

What We Do
Social/cultural activities
Visit museums, sporting events, movies, etc.
College visits
Experience the differences in college campuses and encourage furher education
Community Service
Attend local community events, visit nursing homes, work at local shelters, etc.
Friendship
Create new friendships with students from other schools in the district. Support one another in all life’s challenges.
What We Offer
Social acceptance, making new friends, and encouragement to be more involved in school.
Employment preparation. Help with resumes and job interview preparation. Job website and application guidance.
Career exploration using the Ohio Means Jobs website.
ACT, FAFSA, ACCUPLACER, and state testing preparation.
College Preparation. Help with college and scholarship applications, research scholarships, exploration of majors and colleges with specific majors.
Academic counseling when needed with current classes.
Who Qualifies
All high school students enrolled at Monroe Central, River, or Swiss Hills Career Center and live in Monroe County.
All high school students enrolled in post-secondary or home school programs.
All high school students who families do not exceed the 200% poverty income guidelines.
Monroe Project Partnership
What is MPP?
Project Partnership provides supportive services to Pre-K through 8th grade for at-risk students and their families.
Intervention Case Managers are a liaison between the classroom and the home. We assist families with services to improve their child’s educational, social, and emotional growth.
We have been providing prevention and intervention services to the families of Switzerland of Ohio Local School District for over 20 years.
Eligibility and Application Process
Assistance is provided on a referral basis by parents, teachers, and staff. Families who meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG) of 200% or less are eligible for the program. However, students or families in need of help, can be served regardless of income.
To apply, families must complete a TANF Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC) Application.
Our Services
Individual and Family Support Services
- Promote student success and parent involvement.
- Assist families with services to improve educational, social, and emotional growth of their children.
Crisis Intervention
- Case managers provide support and refer students and families to necessary services.
- Work in conjunction with school therapists, mental health providers, and other social service agencies.
Home Visits
- Home visits are made to help bridge the gap between school and home
- Help build trust and provide an extra layer of support for parents and their children.
Prevention Programs
Child Assault Prevention (CAP) — Grades K-4
Teaches children to recognize and deal with potentially dangerous situations through guided group discussion and role plays.
Stop Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) — Grades 5-6
Teaches personal safety, inappropriate touching, internet safety and bullying through group discussion and short videos.
Ten Signs of Relationship Abuse — Grade 8
Teaches teenagers about healthy relationships, dating violence, and emotional abuse through guided discussion and a short video.
Botvin Life Skills — Grade 7
Evidence-based programs (18 sessions) that teach students about drugs and alcohol, as well as coping skills, peer conflict, social skills, anger management, decision making, influence of advertising, violence and media, coping with anxiety, and communication skills.
CATCH My Breath — Grades 5 and 8
Evidence-based program that teaches students to make healthy choices in regard to vaping/e-cigs.
These prevention programs are now required by the Ohio Department of Education under Erin’s Law ORC 3311.52 and ORC 1131.60.

Salvaging Sisterhood
Small groups to teach girls to communicate efficiently and effectively with one another to improve friendship skills.
Designed to raise awareness, develop empathy, teach healthy conflict, explore feelings, and promote a positive change in relationships.
Spot Series (Social Emotional Learning)
Learning and regulating different emotions and coping strategies.
Too Good for Violence (Bullying Prevention)
Wise Owl (Tattling vs Telling)
Small groups for socials skills and peer conflict
Provide support for students to be academically successful
Assist school attendance team to help improve student attendance
Monroe County Sheriff’s Annual Shop with a Cop
Case managers help facilitate this wonderful, charitable program from selecting children to contacting parents, and then chaperoning students on this magical day of holiday shopping!
